Exhaust Sounds!!!

Hey Guys,

This is my first post so here goes,

Just bought a 52 plate Octavia 1.9Tdi Ambiente, the car drives superb and I am very happy with it.

I did not notice on the test drive but there is a faint sound at around 2000 rpm that is like a blowing exhaust only on a smaller scale.

I called into an exhaust centre and they put it up on the ramps for a look and the main part of the exhaust is good condition. He did not check the down pipe but mentioned the turbo.

I just wanted to know if other any people had come across this before?

I will take into a proper garage for a more in depth look in the next few days.

I have the same problem with my 2.0 TDI, especially when I lift off the accelerator pedal; the dealer tested it and told me it's a normal "functional noise"...

Have you checked the air filter housing for vibrations? We come across this a hell of a lot. The drivers come in complaining about the exhaust when it's the air box and intake horn that are vibrating together. The noise is very irritating!
