I've started to white smoke and disabling the EGR valve at the front seems to stop this so I am assuming the cooler is leaking internally. Can I disconnect and bridge the coolant feed to it and drive it like that for a while without causing any damage?

Any advise would be much appreciated.

    Thank you

By pass kit. Checked it out when mine was sticking. Don't know if this is what you were asking.

Hi Fexo, Thanks for the reply.

I would love to do the delete kit but with the MOT and the emissions light I'm going to avoid that for now. I just wanted to know if I could leave it in tact and just by pass the cooling part of the EGR so non of the coolant is flowing through it for now until I get a new cooler.

I would be using something like this: http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/pr...6in-hose-joint

Cooler will be with me on Tuesday so I'm not going to bother with the bypass.
Does anyone have any tips on removal and installation?
I believe I need to get under the car and remove the intake pipe on the turbo to access bolts but looks pretty straight forward otherwise.

    Thanks

I am glad you are not going to compromise your cars emissions system, it is environmentally irresponsible to take off cats, DPF's and EGR systems.

The cooler is OK to do. Take the air cleaner system and valve block out and remove the turbo air induction pipe and you can easily get to it, the official time is 1.6 hours but allow yourself 2 hours.

Hi Crasher, thanks for your reply. When you say the valve block, is that the valve attached to the end of the cooler? I think its also known as the change over flap if its what I'm thinking?

No, the combined vacuum valve unit on the bulkhead, it gets in the way.
