    Hi everyone

I would appreciate some help with this problem I have,

I was driving home on Saturday when my car suddenly lost power and began to shake and judder, the management light starting flashing but I managed to finish my journey home slowly. My friend came along with VAG kit and we logged a missfire in cylinder 4 and multiple missfires.

We removed the spark plugs and found 1 that was wet with fuel as if not being burnt so we put them back in and went for a drive to then get the same fault code.

we then swapped the coil packs around to see if the fault moved cylinder with a possible faulty coil pack but after a couple of swaps the fault stayed in cylinder 4.

i have replaced all the spark plugs with genuine audi ones and now the car idles better but the engine management light comes on straight away and stays on with out needing to drive it.

Being that I have swapped coils packs round I am guessing it cant be them or the fault would move with the faulty coil pack. Audi want to plug it in and start charging me a fortune for work I can do myself but does anyone else have any advice for me please.

    Thanks for your help.

    Keiron

Dodgy wiring to coilpack 4. Did you clear the code after swapping the coilpacks?

    Hi Paul

Yes we cleared the fault code many times, and last night the VAG said I now have a missfire in Cylinder 5 which I obviously do not have 5 cylinders, so where do you go with that fault code ?

    Any ideas would be great,

    Cheers buddy

    Are using VCDS/Vagcom for diagnosis?

Ok, so I assume you're using the auto scan to look for faults?

You need to select the correct car in the drop down menu on autoscan.
Personally I always go directly into the engine module when diagnosing engine faults.

To be fair I think thats what my buddy does for me as it is his kit, I have been in touch with Audi and under the recall/ campaign number 28E9 they have agreed to change all my coil pax for new as long as they are genuine which i think they are. So maybe that will solve the problem

Something very odd going on if VCDS thinks you have a cylinder 5!
