As someone who reads the handbook/servicing book with some interest (I know.........) I was rather surprised at the lack of servicing detail in the Golf 7 service booklet.

I am used with previous VW Golfs to see a detailed time/mileage specific servicing regime - when the filters are replaced, spark glugs, etc etc. This booklet now just states "your dealer will know what work is required" and "the car will tell you when to bring it in". What happens after my 3yr service deal expires and I choose to either service the Golf myself/take it to a third party garage?

As a private buyer I am intersted to know these replacement times. I am also driving my first diesel car and also have DSG.

I have asked my dealer to try a source a servicing schedule - does anyone have one for the 2.0TDI DSG???????

well, filters only last as long as any other filter. oil only lasts as long as oil. fuel still has the same amount of muck in it. so just follow the service regime for any other car, so a service about every 10k miles. air, fuel, oil filters and oil. wheels off, clean and check brakes etc... oil doors and locks. nothing changes really, just oil has got better. air still contains the same muck as it always has so anyone that leaves an air filter for 50k is blind.

6 years for an air filter. thats schedule has been written to sell a car to a fleet buyer, not to maintain it in good condition.

Finally managed to get some reliable servicing information from my dealer.

Firstly, it was confirmed by the Master Mechanic that the 2.0 tdi engine has a belt - NOT a chain as has been mentioned on some discussions/literature.

Secondly the belt is not "maintenance free" but requires changing at 5 years/140,000 miles.

Find in the previous message a copy of the ELSA servicing schedule/works for the 2.0tdi engine. Note that there is now an additional service level - "Inspection with extended scope" - something handily not mentioned in the service schedule!

The other image shows a detailed list of "time/distance" NOT "Longlife" service items for the 2.0tdi.
