    Hi guys,
i'm in a bit of a pickle, as I am without my car at the moment but need to buy a tool to remove my rear caliper on my 1998 Passat tonight - performing the job tomorrow.

They seem to be allen head bolts (I was expecting a regular bolt) but i'm not sure of the size of the allen key that is required.

Can anybody let me know what size i would need to pick up from my local motor factors, so I don't have a wasted trip on my way home from work.

I appreciate any advice you can give

    Cheers,
    Matt

Yep, 8mm but buy a good quality tool and breaker bar and possible big mole grips if you round the heads off ! Just for your info, the discs come off without taking the carriers so you don't need to buy any special tools apart from the brake piston winder !
The calipers are held on the carriers with 2x 13mm bolts and you need a slim 15mm spanner to counterhold the sliding pins...
