    hi there been having a night mare with my golf gt tdi 170 started doin the cam belt yesterday so i brought all the locking pins fitted them all but could not get the locking pins in the cam hole so i slacked of the belt and then fitted the pins all ok changed water pump and refitted the new belt, turned the engine over buy had and it locked up so time must be out loads tried goin one tooth back and one tooth forward and it turns over but wont start went two teeth foward and it started but tapped a little s shut down straight away, should the crank be able to do a full rotation with the cams locked in place as they dont. plus the crank locking tool dont seam to line up very well with the marks its ever to the left of it or the right any help would be great thanks

    with the cams locked in place you should not be able to turn the crank very much,not quite 1/2 a turn in either direction. are you sure you have the right locking kit and are you following any instructions.
    Audi 80 tdi avant with 360,000 miles...

    thanks for the fast reply erm iam following these http://hostapix.co.uk/VAG-PDFs/BMN%20Timing%20Belt.pdf i not to sure as i just have t10050 and one locking pin as a kit, so that what makes me think it might be the wrong one but i used a drill bit the same size as the pin

    i have got the timing in bye looking at the pic of the t10100 tool on goolge image runs and starts fine but its slower than it was before is this because the cam wheel bolts can be altered for different timing if so should the bolts on the cam be central any help will be great
