    Hi everyone!

I am a proud owner of a 2006 2.0tfsi avant quattro. It really looks the part!

We have owned it a month or 2 now. it is quick, since the shine of buying it has worn of a little, I cant help but feel that it should be quicker.

It pulls really smooth, and accelerates fine. I think there should be more power though. I owned a 1.8ts A3 quattro some years back and that was definitely quicker.

Though that is where my experience with turbo cars ends. I can really feel the turbo on the A4 "kicking in". I didnt expect a kick in the back, when the boost came on, but something. I also cant hear the boost, I assume that is because it is a low boost system. or should I be able to hear it?

I bought a vag fault code reader today and didn't find any codes, so i guess thats good. I have done lots of reading on here and elsewhere on similar issues: I tried the PCV valve diagnosis, feeling form sucking from the oil filler cap. there was tiny amount of vacuum (but of course there should be right?). I also would suspect the diverter valve, but as i said no fault codes were on the car. So could it still be that?

    All input really welcome....

    Cheers

    Craig

When the mrs was shopping for her A5 we too test drove the 2.0 Quattro and were thoroughly underwhelmed. Guess it's just an underpowered engine.

You won't hear the turbo because of the design of the engine. A subaru and cosworth has a "whoosh" because it has a dump valvle. Audi doesn't have that, it recirculates the air and doesn't dump it through a whooshing valve. So if the diverter valve splits or tears, you lose some of that recirculation and the power drops.
It's also not designed to give you a "kick" the way you might expect.....I think that's deemed too aggressive. Fine for cossies and Subarus but you get more lag before a kick....smaller turbo means less lag but less "kick"
