The B7 in general is a good car but the 2.0 petrol can drink a bit of oil so get stocked up.

My advice to you is look at any other than this car, I own an A4 TFSI S-Line Quattro on a 55 plate and they are nothing but money pits.
Since buying the car 6 weeks ago I have constantly had to spend money on it and the bill keeps going up, common problems are the engine, suffer badly from air leaks, PCV valve and pipework failure, EVAP system failure, coil packs failing, cam follower failure and high pressure fuel pump failure.
So far I have needed a complete new exhaust system from the CAT to the twin tail pipes, PCV valve, oil breather hose needs doing and that requires the whole sub-frame dropped to get to it, £400 labour to fit a £30 part!
The TFSI is a very complex engine and parts are expensive to repair and maintain, all I can say is that I wish I went for the SAAB turbo rather than the pile of sh!te I ended up being stuck with, waste of money and heart ache.

Dont be taken in by the old German build quality cliché, I have been a fanboy and driver of Ford Mondeos for years and never had this many issues with any of them, I fancied a all wheel drive car and everyone was raving about the Quattro system and its reliability, I guess all cars have problems but this is taking the mick.

    Rob.

At the end of the day, its all down to how the previous owner(s) have looked after them.

if you see a full Audi or specialist history then it usually means all other underneath bits have been looked after aswell.

Like all cars they need maintenance, but I have a todo list that will keep me shelling out money every pay day for the next 12-15 months, the best thing I can do is have the whole engine replaced or refurbished, oh and then there is the dual mass flywheel and clutch - lets hope the whine it makes above 50MPH is a wheel bearing and not the diff, you never know I might get lucky and some little toe-rag will steal it and burn it out and then I will buy a reliable car with the insurance!

I have full Audi service history for the car, despite my bitter attitude towards the car it looks nice but thats all it has going for it.

I have a 55 plate 2.0 TFSI se Avant non quattro. I bought it from an Audi dealer with 54,000 miles on it.after 4 years of ownership it has now done 93,000 miles and the only faults I have had are coil packs which were replaced under warranty and the turbo recirc valve which I replaced myself at a cost of £50 from Audi. It has a full Audi history and has passed all the MOT's so far. It will need some suspension work soon but that is related to mileage. In my opinion it's a great car which if looked after will go on and on. All cars will need some work on them as they get older so should factor that into your budget as well as tyres brake pads etc. I personally have not come across the oil consumption being an issue. But then I do only 8000 miles a year. Also the cam follower was isolated to USA cars. Also check if the one you are looking at has good history and the coil packs were done on the recall.

I had one for just over 4 years. Bought at 3.5 years old and 30k miles. I traded it in about 3 weeks ago at 64k miles.
Problems?.....nothing out of the ordinary. front disks and pads, servicing, wipers blades, tyres, timing belt etc etc etc.

Great car and probably the best I've owned so far.

MPG wise, over around 2years of recording I averaged 28mpg. I'm not particularly hard on the car but not averse to a blast in to blow the cobwebs or overtake something.

Also had it remapped for around 3 years so the mpg was 28 or so with a remap.

Was sad to see it go but it was 7.5 years old and I'd had it for over 4.
