    Hi folks,

Think I'm going nuts as I can't seem to get my retrofitted RCD510 with DAB to see my external cd changer and Xcarlink ipod adapter. Obvioulsy I can live without the cd changer but want my Xcarlink ipod adapter to work so I can play my iPhone and Ipod through the car radio. I've been through the long coding helper in address 56 and activated the cd changer/ipod/usb selection and the radio accepts this but still no joy with either of the cd changer or the Xcarlink.

My car's a 2006 B6 Passat TDI Sport with an updated can gateway due to the battery drain issues and I think the RCD510 is from a 2010 Golf.

Any ideas or suggestions greatly appreciated.

    Cheers folks.

    Scottiedogg.

Okay so I would be checking the pinouts on each stereo and make sure the ones the xcarlink uses matches up as sometimes VW can chop and change pinouts and most aren't the same on differing models of radio.

I first thought that since the RNS510 has a dedicated cd changer port this would be the issue, but after searching it isn't and the pinouts need to be checked. There will be a diagram stickered on both units, usually on the top.

I was hoping it wouldn't be the wiring pins as they're a pain to alter from past experience. Will have to check that out at the weekend then when I've got the RCD310 back from the folks house.

Cheers for the info and will post back my findings.

    Scottie.

    Hi folks.
Been a while but finally got time to play with the pins on the connector and changed pin 2 to pin 3 so that all the pins are correct for the cd changer but still no joy with getting the external changer or the xcarlink to work.

I've recoded the radio using vcds but it just doesn't seem to want to know. Anyone out there managed to do this or got any other suggestions?

Looking through the measuring blocks (I can't remember which one it was though) but if looks like vcds can see the external cd changer so can't understand why the radio can't.

    Cheers Scottie.
