Passat 2004 B5.5 Soaked/Wet Carpets on nearside

Hi,
I have just discovered my carpets are soaked and after reading plenty it points highly towards the pollen filter casings foam gasket has failed where its fitted to the bulkhead. I also have seen photos of two documents VW have released about this issue admitting its a fault.
I have only had my car for 6 weeks and my lovely local Arnold Clark VW garage very nicely replaced the two front wings free gratis due to their ten bob foam failure causing the wing corrosion.

What I would like to know from anyone on this fab site is....

1 -Has anyone had a free claim for the pollen vent seal against VW including its replacement,all concerned possible electric faults it generates due to the internal flooding and the full clean up of soggy stinking carpets and soundproofing??

2 - Just before I noticed the wet floor the warning lights on the dash for traction control and Air-bags have appeared. Is it likely that these maybe a result to the flooding of the floor and CCM etc??

have you checked the plenum to see if its full of water or not. thats the first thing to do really. i doubt vw would entertain a claim against a seal on a 10 year old car to be fair, but you could try. but first see if its leaves blocking the plenum drains that are responsible.

Hi, my own mechanic had it all open a couple of weeks ago for another reason and we looked in there as we were already aware that it could be an forthcoming issue and it was all nice,clean and dry. VW are admitting its a design fault though as was the foam in the wings which the replaced no problem

Shame he did not know more about Passats and rip the duckbill valves out and save you some grief, its not the foam that is the problem, if 20 Lts of water has built up in the plenum and you turn a corner it will go down the heating duct and flood the interior.
