    hi
Just done an oil and filter change on my 1.9 tdi 130 all went well except that now its showing on dipstick as too full but sump is empty i.e nothing comes out if you remove plug . How long would it take to fill sump from empty time wise. Took 4 litres out and replaced with 3.5 litres so know it shouldn't be overfilled . Does the dipstick take level from sump or from oil cooler ??? Car now being left overnight with oil cap off ...

not quite sure what you mean, but i think you mean you have drained the sump, put 3.5 litres back in and now if you remove the sump plug, nothing comes out, yet the dipstick reads too much ? the dipstick goes into the sump, so if it reads too much then there is oil in the sump, presuming you are wiping the dipstick clean. you must be removing the wrong sump plug, or the threaded part is stuck in the sump.

Yes, it sounds like you've drained all the gearbox oil out and then put new engine oil in with the old engine oil causing it to be massively overfilled. I'm not sure on how to refill the auto box but don't drive the car until you have drained some of the engine oil out and replaced the gearbox oil.

Which gearbox oil did you drain, final drive or gearbox itself?

There is no such thing as an AZF box as you mentioned in your PM to me.

This reminds me of when I was a boy and my dad asked me to fill his Sherpa pickup engine with oil.About an hour later he came back and asked why I was still messing with it,
I had put 5 gallon in and it was nearly full to the top of the rocker cover.

Or when I was 10 and was bored at a relations (old geyser, fought in the war before the other one and got shot in the leg at some battle of Pashendale or somit, why would I be interested....dohhhhh! uncle Jim....) and went outside to clean the plugs on my mums 1970 Mini Coutryman, four years old and absolutely rotten through to the core inside and out, FOUR years old for Gods sake!

So said plugs removed, cleaned and gapped as instructed in my AA book of the road and re-installed. Leads put back on in any fashion I felt like, job done-simples. Hello nice Mr RAC man....
