Hi all hope you can help,

I have a 2000 gti turbo and when i put £20 worth of petrol i get about 100 miles on that. I was wondering if i get the car chipped as well as going faster would i get any more miles for my £20 or would i get less.

It would be really helpful if someone out there had this already done to there car as the main reason i would get it chipped would be for better fuel consumption, and would really like to now from someone who has had this done and could tell me from experience.

All your thoughts are welcome on this matter though.

    Cheers

    James

well if you get a good re-map, e.g revo or apr, if you can force yourself to drive 'sensibly' which is as near as makes no difference physically impossible, no easy task when you have over 200bhp with nothing but your right foot between you and the power, you will gain about 4-5mpg on a motorway run, and about 1-2 around town, but if you tear *** around places you will lose about 5-6 mpg, i think my GTI shows an average of 20.8mpg after i had a gt28rs turbo fitted, and about 29.6 when it was just re-mapped, and 27ish when it was bogo standard, most of my driving is around town and on short blasts of dual carriageways, to be truthfull, if its economy and power you want, get something like a gttdi pd 150, a £500 re-map to gain 5mpg just wouldnt justify it if i had to worry about fuel bills, you get those mpg gains from using optimax fuel lol
