a friend has just asked me about this, his brother had the timing chain done on his car a while back and its just gone it seems. what might the cause be ? i believe you need to remove the engine and i am wondering if you can do it in situ with a linked chain, never worked on one of these so have no idea.

According to Autodata you do it by removing the gearbox. I've never done one but I imagine either engine or box are a tight squeeze.
