I have seen an A6 advertised that may be suitable for replacing my current one which is getting on a bit in both age and mileage! It is listed as having Adaptive Air Suspension. Was this an option on 2010 LeMans models? If so does anyone have any info about the features and how it compares to coil springs from a ride and handling perspective? I am aware of the perceived troublesome nature of Air Suspension and the costs associated with repairs but that is not my question on this occasion!

    Thanks

Yes optional extra on all models.

PM bagpipingandy and he'll fill you in. When they go wrong they go wrong badly and are expensive to repair the system.

Thanks - I am not phased by the reliability problems. Essentially airbags, sensors and a compressor and as I do all my own work it does not worry me. On my existing A6 a shock absorber failed at 80,000 and resulted in me having to change both front shocks as well as the 4 suspension arms as a result of the seized bolts! I doubt it can be worse than that!

Any views on ride and handling?

I have an allroad. With all round air suspension the ride is great, a bit wallowy on comfort setting but it tightens up quite well on dynamic.

I would expect it to be similar on the non allroad.

I have a Quattro Avant with adaptive air suspension
Ride and handling are excellent in automatic mode
Love the self levelling as I tow a lot.

However parts are ludicrous prices, thought I might need new rear shocks as there was misting around the top.
At £670 each I was glad it passed the MOT
Still waiting on ebay for some to come up
