    Hello,
A few months ago, I was on a bypass, accelerated in fifth gear and suddenly lost power. I was driving at 50 miles per hour! I stopped and started the engine again. It went well for a while and suddenly lost power again. I took it to a garage and the error message was "mount solenoid valve" (sorry I don't have the error message number). They told me I had to change the turbo.
I had the whole distribution changed in September (can belt, etc...) and it seemed to have stopped doing it.
However yesterday it started again. It happens only when I floor it in fifth gear to go to sixth gear. Would that be really a turbo fault? It's an A4 1.9 TDI 52 reg.
Changing the turbo costs a fortune and I don't want to get ripped off if it's something to do with another fault!
    Could someone help please?
    Thank you!!!

    Welcome to VWAF

The garage who carried out the previous work should have provided a warranty.

Take the car back to them, get it scanned for faults and then post them here.

Considering selling my VCDS KEY-USB interface. If you're interested please contact me via PM or email.

Engine mounts can throw a fault code but they're basically harmless and changing the turbo will have no effect. There is a boost control valve that fails putting the car into limp mode a new one costs 50.00 ish. You need a scan first use a VAG indie or a dealer

17994- engine mount solenoid valve / N144- short to plus / P1586 intermittent if its something like one of your engine mounts are away. theres a sensor on one of them this can also be at fault. when your driving at some stage does the car feel like a wheels lose a sorta wobble movment. ive the same problem and its my engine mount away with it.

Very likely your turbo is over boosting and going into limp mode,I would get a scan done with someone with a vag scanner,if it is it will need removing and cleaning, the engine mount one is very common and not the cause. ps just read doctle has suggested it.
    A4 B6,A4B7Quattro,MK4 Golf,MK5Golf gone and well forgotten,MK6Golf.

Maybe try a different mechanic too. Hit and miss engines and engineering were never a hit
