    Hello all

Only got my A4 Avant in April so haven't noticed this problem before.

There are couple of threads on here about heating but none really relate to what i have (unless i am mistaken of course)

My vents and heating elements in the rear side windows (the ones in the "boot" if that makes sense) don't seem to be producing air of the heating elements not working. Is there anything I can check for these, bearing in mind I'm not too mechanical?

I also had this happen while driving as well the other night. I have the front de mister on as it wasn't clearing

    Thanks for your help
    Dave

The elements in the side window are nor heaters.
Do you get air blown onto the front screen when the screen demist is selected on the climate.

    Oh! what are they then?

I am getting air out the vent in the middle of the dash yeah, the one that points to the screen, but it also comes out the others as well.

I will check the carpets in the morning.

I believe they are break glass sensors for the alarm.
If you press the front screen button on the climate you should get air to the screen only and fan speed should increase.

    oh ok cool.

With the screen, yeah i press the front windscreen button the fan goes to max. but it does come out the other vents. Maybe I will close them all see if that helps and also to check the heat of the air coming out of it.

The elements in the side windows in the boot on the Avant are radio aerials. When you switch the windscreen demister switch on the red light on the Econ button should go out as well if you havn't got the air con on on already. Maybe you have an aircon issue? Also I think if you are demisting all the flap motors should direct the air to the windscreen. Maybe a stuck flap? I will check mine in the morning and feed back.

Thanks Neilos100. I will try keeping it on. Although as its not been that cold haven't really had the problem. I have just been keeping the Heater on "auto" mode

I don't have wet carpets as someone mentioned. I do hear the motors moving as i hot the front windscreen button, would it be a dash out job to replace them?
