I do not know what is the situation now, but earlier with my A4 B7 (had several faulty remotes) they could delete all keys and then program new keys. So the old keys were deleted (divorced) electrically, but the blade still works, as mentioned. Btw, C7 shows in MMI how many keys are programmed. Actually they can delete individual keys, but usually they will delete all and then reprogram new ones.

    A new key is £297.24.
They cannot deactivate the old key. They code the new key and your existing one with a new code to the car.
Don't forget to get them to also recode the plastic emergency key.

I ordered the key this morning.
At lunchtime I had a call from my Sons school. The found a bunch of keys in his school bag when they were getting his costume out for the school Christmas play. I immediately rang Cardiff Audi and cancelled the order.
TFFT, almost £300 sovs saved just before Chrimbo. Result.

Well done for finding your keys. However the question is- Is Audi Key Insurance worthwhile. I know that it doesn't cost anything but if I have to lose my keys with the reg number on them to be able to claim then it isn't really fit for purpose. Having the reg number on the key fob could be regarded as not taking adequate precautions to prevent theft! I wonder if any one of you forumistes has successfully claimed. Is this why the dealers have ident tags on the key fobs?- so that they can claim!!

From our customers experience I have a feeling most of these key cover companies are not great.

Had a case where customer lost their keys we provided a full invoice claiming we had provided customer with a fully working remote key, only to get a call from the insurance company saying they only cover non remote keys even though that the customer lost a remote. There are many different insurance companies for keys out there so can't speak for all of them.
