Hi, after a number of years of company car imposed 'stay' in BMWland I'm looking at purchasing an A6 Avant TDI Le Mans and have found 2 very respectable ones with sensible mileages nearby but both are pre facelift - can anyone advise if the post 09 S Line/Le Mans diffuser is compatible with the earlier rear bumper?

If it is I'm content with either of these cars as they will be on a non dating number - 57 Plate 2.7 TDI Auto or 08 plate 2.0 TDI manual but what would people advise?

I used to have a C5 2.5 TDI Avant Quattro Manual and was really impressed with it - especially when re-mapped.

    Cheers, Dave.

I replied to your other thread on the 'other-side'

No. You need the new facelift rear bumper and do fit this you need new rear wings, new bootlid, new rear lights, new light control unit, rear bumper and valance.

You don't need new rear wings. All you need is FL rear lights, bootlid, bumper and wires. About the control unit, only in some case you need it. Some of them are reprogramable to "AVANT" so rear lights working fine. I'm working on FL conversion myself, so I'll tell you more about it later

Are you sure? The new FL lights are slimmer and longer than the PFL or does the FL bumper close the gap?

100% sure take a look at todays "photo shot". Was only checking how it looks like. That's FL rear light. There will be no gap when i'll fit FL bumper and bootlid

Cheers Chris - just casting the web wider as I'm not into doing the whole job, just swapping the diffuser to the later type. Seems busier on this side!

Ah yes I see now, so the new fl bumper closes that gap then. Thanks for clearing that up

With prefacelift s-line cars the diffuser is actually built in and is painted the colour of the car so it doesn't look too bad.

I'm pretty sure the pfl SE has a removable diffuser but not sure the fl one will fit the gap though due to the different bumper.

are you sure about built in diffuser? Cause I seen few s6 diffusers on ebay, and non sline diffusers too, for prefl cars. Also these "abt" diffusers which looks little bit ugly to me :S I would worry about shape of sline pre fl and post fl.

My 2008 S-Line has it built in. I know for sure the SE ones can be removed and changed.

I'm with you, the shape of the diffuser gap between PFL and FL is probably different.
