Had a LUK DMF & clutch fitted together in April and since then car has done approx 20K miles (I'm a taxi driver). However, within the last month I've started noticing that I'm getting constant clutch judder after having driven the car for a while. I emphasize that when starting the car from cold the clutch behaves normally as you would expect from a fairly new clutch.

I've asked a few people how this could be and most simply say it could have been a faulty clutch. I have one fairly reliable source who says that it sounds as though the o-ring oil seal could have been nipped whilst fitting the DMF and consequently an ingress of oil onto the clutch plates could have occured and that once the car is warmed up and the oil becomes hotter the clutch starts to slip.

This is not my diagnosis, only what I've been told. However, I'm inclined to believe something has happened in the fitting of the DMF/Clutch as the same garage also informed me that both of my CV boots where split, immediately after the job was complete (leaving me wondering if this happened during their work). They then got the work for the new CV boots and proceeded to damage my ABS cable in the process. So forgive me if I'm thinking along the lines of shoddy workmanship from the start.

If anyone can verify this as a possibility I would be most grateful.

    Phil

Can you elaborate on what kind of vibration or "judder" the clutch is making? I can tell you for sure that if oil got into the clutch, it would slip all the time, not just when it gets warm. Oil is about the worst thing to come in contact with a clutch. CV boots ripping is common and happens after time. I highly doubt it was a result of the shop's work

If you are talking about the crankshaft rear oil seal then any leaking oil will be dripping off the bottom of the gearbox.
How many miles has the car done. Regards Peter
