There seems to be 2 competing enhancements to the standard stereo.

Does anyone have either of the above and can comment on the differences?

Both seem to refer to retaining the existing speakers so it does seem a sub-woofer is added in addition to an amplifier.

Don't know about the P&P system, but I can confirm that the Dynaudio system doesn't use standard speakers but high quality cones. If you look on ETKA, the standard speakers are about £20 each, but the Dynaudio ones are about £120 each.

Also, the Dynaudio integrates fully with the headunit meaning that EQ curves and sound balance etc are all just a touch away. I would guess that the P&P system doesn't.

One final point (that I've heard), is that the P&P sub is larger than the Dynaudio one and thus forces you to ditch any kind of spare wheel (space saver or not), where as the Dynaudio Sub fits into the Space Saver and allows you to carry both ?

What HiFi have reviewed the Dynaudio system recently, and it is highly recommended:
Dynaudio Excite Sound System review –Â*VW Golf (Mk 7) | whathifi.com

    This is their verdict:
As with most car configurations, there are a lot of options for the Golf GTI – many of which you can probably live without – but £525 for Dynaudio’s Excite system is money well spent. If you find yourself regularly at the mercy of congested motorways and city centres, it’s great to know the fantastic sound from this system will be there to keep you company.

I have the Dynaudio system from the factory. I don't rate it: too lean and brittle sounding. Not as good as a decent amp and set of components. And the sub is a weedy little thing.

I did write a much longer post but the browser ate it.....

Thanks for saving me the added cost :-):-). I wass seriously considering Dynaudio. Coming from a Vw Passat Sport with the 10 speaker Dynaudio setup, it was a no brainer. 8 speakers and poor reviews on here made my mind up. Apparently the standard system is fairly decent.

The Dynaudio system on the GTi is good. Not sure if it's worth the investment over the standard system but I have a tin ear. Give Mrs aldfort a few days with the car and I'll get her comments.
Probably in a pit underneath a steam loco somewhere.

I now have an ex-demo GT with Dynaudio. There is no spare wheel, just a repair kit, the sub takes up the space. I'm surprised this isn't mentioned anywhere. Anyway, it's a cracking system.

Well all I can say (and I don't mean to boast) is that I must have a bigger woofer than Mrs A - see picture.sub w.jpg
