Apoligies if there's a section on this but I couldn't find one.

I'm looking to download Vag-Com but the download page is like hyrogliphics to me with all this hex, etc.

I have ruled out getting the version 7 as I can't see a cable for it cheap on EBay and I'm not sure it'll even work with my car anyway.

Could anyone tell me which version I need to download and which cable I need to work with my car?

    It's a 2001 Audi A6 1.9TD1 115bhp.

    Thanks in advance,
    P.

if your seriously going to use Vagcom to its full effect the only real way to go is to purchase the " real Deal" from ross tec, at a price !!!!

I use v409.1 (registered for $99) with a "dumb" interface cable off eBay. Works fine with my 97MY A4 1.9TDI 110. If you buy the cable first and then download the free "shareware" version of the software, you can try it out, with limited functions, before paying for registration.

True, but you still get most of the features. You can check first by downloading the user manual.
