I hope this is not taken as a double post as I noted reference to the tyre pressure indicator in an earlier gauge.

I am not sure if my car has a tyre pressure warning system or not. I do not have a switch by the gear lever.

How can I check that a warning light will come on the dash if I get a flat (short of intentionally deflating my tyres and driving!).

    Welcome to the forum.

We don't know anything about your vehicle can I suggest you add you car spec to your signature as a lot of regular users do?

I had TPMS added to my motor when I ordered it £35.

Depending on the year if its fitted there should be a SET button in the glove box which you press after you have checked and adjusted the tyre pressure. There is no SET switch near the gear stick.

If you want to check if it works then check all tyre pressures and drop the pressure in one tyre by 10 psi and drive it around for a 1/2 mile the light should come on. It will record a pressure drop of 3 psi. The later system have a direct Volkswagen Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) where there are pressure sensors in each wheel.

Sorry, will try and sort the signature.

    Car is a MK6 2009 2.0 TDI SE

I can see nothing in the mfd and no switch in the glovebox.

Also the car has a DSG gearbox.

Thanks for the link to the guide, looks like I may have to do that, wheres the best place to get the parts?

Is that for the full kit? Can I just get some coding done so it works?

Well in that link Retro fit OEM TPMS they quote OEM part numbers so a dealer should have these. You will need access to VAG-COM\VCDS to code it.
