    Hello all...

I bought a sump plug and washer from TPS today.... having watched a few videos and looked at some that people have fitted.... the washer that came attatched to the sump plug was a flat metal washer that is a very snug fit and is all metal... see pic below, may need to click on it...

My question is this, should it be different to this? On some videos they have used ones that are a combination of rubber and metal... My one is a genuine VW one, is the washer made of a metal that is soft and able to be crushed? Thanks for you help.

yes, that is correct. the rubber and metal ones are dowty washers and used on fords. yours is an alluminium washer and will distort into place to form a seal. don't overtighten it though. you can fit the right size dowty seal, they do make a good seal but what you have there won't leak.
