    Hi guys,

I recently had the motor in Audi for mirror repairs (long story) however whilst there on the check they do they found my car needed new discs and pads front end. estimate over 350 ish nicker for OEM parts and fitting.

Anyway, to cut a long story short, a bit of on line shopping and a trip to europarts with a 25% discount i saw on this site(i think) i got the parts for 48.25.
Now, im not a mechanic but is it hard to fit myself (yeah yeah, but im just not a mechanic type of a guy) but if easy and safe to do myself I will.

So yeah please could I have a little advice from experienced folk regarding, is it hard and safe for me to do my own brakes.
Also i bought 280mm 22mm pagid discs and pads.. are they okay, safety first then wear wise, i mean from what i found they are pretty much the same as the bosch or other OEM parts from what ive read and as im not about to use the car for track days i hope these are okay.

So yeah guys/gals any advice on fitting stuff id need if safe to do myself is greatly appreciated.

    kind regards

It's not a difficult job however the front end does most of the stopping so bear that in mind. You'll need spanners, hex drives,a bleed nut spanner, small rubber tube in a bottle, brake fluid, a "g" clamp and a torque wrench. You need to crack open the bleed screws before you push the pistons in or you could ruin the ABS pump. Don't over-tighten anything use your torque wrench. Pagid are good,

    I'd echo what Doctle says.

I am a bit concerned at your comment that "im just not a mechanic type of a guy". Replacing brake pads and discs is easy enough (even Kwik fit can do it reasonably well sometimes) but there are pitfalls, and the consequences of cocking it up are huge. I don't mean to be insulting, but if you don't know one end of a spanner from another, then maybe get someone else to do it. If you can follow the instructions in a Haynes manual and know what a torque wrench is, then you'll probably be alright. There will be plenty of instruction videos on youtube to demonstrate how to do it.
