I had my car in to the local dealer today to get an alloy repaired after some careless Parking.
I borrowed a brand new a4 and I found the mmi interface/ software so much easier to navigate over my 2011/12 version.
Can just the software be updated or does the unit require upgrading?

The car probably had the 3G+ system fitted over your standard 3G system.

Big money to upgrade as literally everything needs replacing and numerous component protection removed.

Thanks for the quick reply Chris.

Not sure what system it was but I assume it will be the plus. Lots of graphics and back lit green icons?

Shame it cannot simply be re loaded, I can remove component protection.
When you say everything needs changing are we talking main HDD unit? or screen, mfsw and control panel?

Yeah if it only had 4 outer buttons on the MMI panel compared to your 8 then it's 3G+

There was a thread I have saved on my computer showing it being done to a B8 and from memory it was a lot of work, everything MMI related bar the dis and MFSW had to be replaced.

I'll have a look for the thread now.

Yeah I have the 8 button panel so that would need changing too! Seems it might be cheaper just to change the car ha ha
