hi, new to this, first post. i have a 2001 tdi which had a water leak, now fixed. however there still is a bad smell when there is warm weather, a damp musty smell. cant find any wet or damp spots on the floorwell. had carpet washed but still there, smell seems to be coming from front end, behind or below the dash, could the water have damaged behind the dash?

have you looked under the battery in case the drain hole there is clogged and so assisting water to accumulate. While mine was like that I had a damp smell although nothing appeared to get through into the car. Damned leaves !

I found a couple of good steam cleans of the carpet as it kills any mould that may be living in it.

Easy is definatley right. You need to pull up the carpet and dry out underneath. I'm in the process of doing this.
