Hi All, I'm sure this will have been raised many time on the forum - and probably a simple solution - how can I repolish the front headlight lenses on my golf - all looking rather dull at the moment and may affect MOT which is due next month. Is there any special cleaner I need to use or will a cutting compound do the job and restore the glass back to what it was and improve visibility? Cheers

Check in the detailing section of the forum, I seem to remember there being something there. Also, you can buy kits on EBay but as with all things from there, you need to choose carefully.

Sadly these headlights, like most modern day plastic lights, get damaged by UV rays . After you get them polished up a they really need a new clear coat applied as that would of been rubbed off. If you don't they will go yellow/dull again very quickly..You can get UV safe clear coat from a car detailer (body shop etc) On my R32 I have covered the lights in clear film that I am hoping will prevent this issues.

After sanding my car's dulled headlights I just applied a little bit of glass polish that I already had. After nearly a year later, they don't look to have dulled any. Is Clear Coat any different?

Clear coat is the same as what was originally on them. Same as what painters put over car paint.
