Got the 48L1 update before xmas, it is a bit better with ADS in dynamic, auto and comfort are still unusable due to being so light.
I would say that the steering is now OK but the chassis has some tram rail effect, still. Wheel alignment has been checked (but I did not get report).
Anyway, going to better direction so take it if it is available. A4 drivers here report it is good.

There is also new SW for S-tronic, something to do with ACC, if some is having that.

Nope, as apparently it is not available in UK. It is so bad that I am seriously considering a move to Beemer for an X-Drive.

Gaz, Really strange that it's still not available in the UK, and it's a real shame that there is a fix out there but they seem to be obstructing it. Have you tried writing to Audi UK or even Audi in Germany to complain?

diecast, shame that after this update they are still too light. It doesn't seem right to me?

Interesting, although Google translate isn't great - this bit seems to be relevant:

    • Assign the client out that AUDI AG and your company in such a case can not accept any liability for damage caused by modification of the software , or for damages arising as a result of the non - customizing the software . Mention this comment on the work order , prior to the customer signing.
    • If the customer requires that the update is not performed , report it via a " manual logoff recall " and document this in the file of the client.

So basically they accept no liability for damage whether they do the update or not. As far as I recall I was never asked to sign anything before an update..

I've been complaining about sloppy steering since this update has been embodied on my car a 2013 A4 Black Edition. The garage say there's nothing wrong but it just doesn't feel safe on the motorway in fact I was so concerned I called the garage telling them I would not drive it home . After a lot of complaints I eventually contacted Audi Support (UK) who have basically been a go between for me and the garage and arranges a drive along where the technician actually managed to get onto the rumble strip i.e drifted. Currently my car is in for checks on the four wheel drive alignment and them possible a new steering rack. I will have to wait and see the outcome.

I don’t know the version but as the car is in for two days I am now going to contact them to find out.

Can any tell me which one I should expect “L“ or “M” if there is one.I've been complaining about sloppy steering since this update has been embodied on my car a 2013 A4 Black Edition. Latest SW update for steering is called "48L1", released late November/early December 2013. Actually the version seen by VCDS changed to "L" already last summer due to "48K8" update. The latest one is safe to take, since the usability of other than dynamic setting has been missing already last summer. Steering is absolutely so light in comfort or auto that it is not convenient to drive. I think there are no steering racks replaced for A6 due to compatibility, or is it so? Much is dependent on tires, if they have very sharp tread shoulders like Bridgestone Potenza compared to Pirelli or Nokian.

There is no guarantee that the steering software, and hence the update, for the A6 is the same as that for your A4

I've been told by the dealer that the update is generic for all models with electric steering (not hydraulic servotronic), also the update code is the same.

I have just spoken again with my local dealership who have said the 48L1 update is not available in the UK (nor will it be). They want my car in for 2 days to run it and assess as a customer complaint, they have also said there have been no other issues reported to Audi UK regarding this and I am alone with this problem.
