Screeching noise after driving on newly resurfaced road

Please help! Was driving )verly slowly I might add) on a newly resurfced road when a terrible scraping noise happenned, it sounded like the front tire, I assumed it was a piece of grit stuck maybe in the discs and then it went after I sped up then it came back and was even louder.

I can't see anything and don't even know what to look for, I daren't drive it now as its such a loud scraping noise heads turn! Would the RAC be able to help on this?

Where's the noise coming from?

Wheel, disc, brakes?

Does the frequency change as you turn/speed up/slow down?

Noises are hard to diagnose over t'internet. Try and pinpoint the sound, and describe what it sounds like

To be honest I'm scared to drive it, it's the front tire, I think it may be somethig caught i there, just tried to take the tire off withour sucess, bolts on too tight. Will it damage the pads?

You say you tried to take the tyre off, I'm sure you mean the wheel!

Is it a spoked alloy wheel or a steel wheel?

Can you roll the car and replicate the noise? Or does it only happen at speed?

Jack the car up and spin the wheel by hand

It does sound like a stone 'chip' has become stuck between the disc and the pad.

Its sounds like a stone is caught between the disk and the backplate or some other fixed item on the brake mechanism.

Sorted!! All it needed was for me to reverse the car and the chip mut have become dislodged and dropped out, relief!
