    You said the magic word - dealership.

    I won't bore you with my discs/pads story, 'cos I've done it half a dozen times here already, but my local dealer was, ahem, less than reliable on such issues and I regularly drove an hour away to another dealer I'd learned to trust.

    For the last 5 years I've always had MOT's conducted at a local Ford bodyshop that don't do any mecahanical repairs. At £25 a time it's good value and they are never going to fail to make work. Surprse, surprise, I've never had a failure there on my cars, the wife's or my daughter's.

    They should do what they do here in France, and make all MoT stations independent, stand-alone businesses, doing nothing but tests.

    Thats the way it is in Northern Ireland, ran by the government, you either get a pass or fail nothing else. Much stricter than England/Sco/Wales too.

    After all that, it passed the MOT at the same dealers!! They did seem rushed on the day so maybe they forgot
