these are absolutely spot on. whilst they don't make your car faster they do sound mint. you can also get an exhaust whistler to make it sound more turbofied.

I take it you don't like the sound actuator noise the car is putting out when in "Sport" mode? You could try a tuning box rather than remap, for easy removal when the car is in for warranty work etc. There are a few "good" ones out there. I'm not talking about those £30-80 ebay boxes of resistors, they're junk. But DTUK and TDI-tuning.co.uk have a few boxes out. TDI-tuning.co.uk have a box with 7 programs (from eco heavy to performance heavy) that claim to put out up to 239PS in a GTD. A lad called "buddy" on one of the GTI forums has been using one for about a week now and says it has transformed his car. Undetectable as they modify the signal sent to the injectors, only the signal sent is logged, not the modified signal received. I'm tempted myself, just to get my abysmal mpg up.

Happy enough with the sound actuator noise on my GTD, although my 170TDI Scirocco sounded better. Not so happy with the mpg - 46.5mpg indicated (42.4mpg actual) on my first full tank of V-power used. My indicated mpg has dropped to 43mpg for my commute this week (an easy 50-52mpg in my Scirocco).

Putting a dumpvalve on a diesel is like advertising that you dont know jack **** (excuse my french) about tuning. Even if you get it to work right (doubtful) it doesnt do anything. It does less then nothing. your gain will be nothing and you run the risk of loosing power, performace and response. The blow off valve on a petrol engine is there to eliminate overpressure(backpressure) on the charge side of the engine when you suddenly let off the throttle and close the throttle plate/butterflies, but since a diesel always run "full open" we dont need this. Here is the kicker.. since diesels always run fully open, there isnt any backpressure for the blowoff valve to make that whistling sound your looking for! You´d be better off buying one of those "turbo-whistles" and installing it in the exhaust pipe. Can you put a Blow off valve in a turbo diesel engine
