I have just upgraded my phone to an Iphone 5s. To avoid buying a new Audi IPhone 5 cradle, I have tried the Apple 30 pin to Lightening connector. This displayed a message that the accessory is not supported and won't cart the phone.

    can anyone confirm if:

    • The Audi iPhone 5 cradle is certified to work with IOS 7 and does not display an error message

    Or

    • if using the universal cradle and a normal USB cable would work

    Thanks

spoke to local audi and they do not have the lead yet but two of the salesmen had iphone 5 and informed them on the apple bit that works and they were well happy so that may be the way to go for me have just ordered from fleabay a charger as thats all i need in my car as music already on MMI

Hi. I tried the 30 to 8 pin connector plugged into the existing IPhone 4 cradle. It brought up an error of not being an approved cable. I suspect it is as the cradle additionally sends the external aerial signal. Its likely if using IOS6 the error would not have shown as they now have detection on approved cables. Using the Audi approved IPhone 5 cradle works with no issues as a 5s is the same dimensions as a 5. When I asked about the cable I was told nothing has been approved yet.

Does using this cradle actually improve the signal? I know Audi says it will but some say it can't. Not got the car yet so cant try it got the cradle though

It definitely seems to improve the signal. In bad areas I have seen it go up one or two bars. Using the external aerial on the car seems to help.

brilliant! Thanks for this, I was bought it to keep things tidy but at least now I know I've got some extra signal strength too

Others are saying that it can't do this but I suppose it does it passively.
