Hi all,

I'm considering buying an A3, 2.0 FSI on an 03 plate to be precise, and last week I took it for a test drive.

I had 40 minutes driving around, 20 of which I parked up and had a good look round the car. While it was parked, I opened the bonnet and almost needed ear protectors as the twin cooling fans at the front were making so much noise.

After a little while they switched off, but as soon as I started the engine and pulled off, they were on again. They can't be heard much in the car (unless the windows are open), but then it does have fantastic sound deadening (one of the reasons I like it so much).

I've seen the service history of the car and I've had an Audi "insider" check it out too. It has had some work done to the "engine cooling system" but unfortunately I don't have details of exactly what.

Does anyone have any experience of this problem? Is it normal?

Many thanks
