Has anyone ever tried to make the 12v power socket in the arm rest a permanent live rather than an ignition feed.
I would like it permanent so i can charge my phone when parked up which i do a lot.

not done one in the armrest but i have fitted one in my glove box so the ipod can live in there and be charged without wires all over the place. its just a case of running a wire from the battery or fuse board, through a fuse and into the socket. mine has a live going to the rear for the now removed towing electrics so i have used that to put a socket in the rear and for the glove box one.
