    Hello,
Yesterday I had my first longer trip with the new A6 and I'm not 100% happy with the amount of wind noise on a highway. It's not very bad, but I feel that my old Passat CC had less of it. From the speed of about 50 mph I start hearing some wind gusting around the side mirror area and it get's louder and louder when I speed up. At around 100-120 mph its pretty noisy in the car, although it's not any whistling/high pitched sound, just typical car against wind 'roar'. What are your impressions? Is that something that can be done/adjusted by the service?

I would be grateful for any opinions

Can't say I have noticed any issues here, and certainly not at the higher speeds you mention as we have a 70mph speed limit and to get into 3 figure speeds would see the end of your driving licence. Others have commented on wind noise and in part the issue has been down to the rest of the car being so quiet.

I would agree with that. My diesel 245 Quattro has virtually no discernable mecanical noise on the cruise. It makes you notice everything else that does make a noise in the cabin (and for the record this comment was in no way intended to refer to my dearly beloved wife)

    Agreed.

No issues that I have noticed.

A colleague was in the car with me last week who had driven in the C6 and made a comment how much quieter the newer model is.

some noise from the 'Dumbo's ears' at speed but apart from that and a little tyre roar on some surfaces its as quiet as the proverbial. Have to try at 120 though on the way home from the office just to check.

I have found my A6 surprisingly (or not, considering the Audi reputation / price of the car?) silent at motorway speed (about 70).

Coming from a noisy-ish Octavia, I found myself cruising at 70 on a motorway in the rain, noticing that the only noise I heard was the water rippling on the car, not the wind noise.

    Wind noise and mpg

It might just be the original C7 that was causing the issue as you don't hear people moaning about it much any more. We still have it certainly, and I suspect the people in the original thread will have it too as our dealers "couldn't find anything wrong".

There is some wind noise around the drivers door pillar - some from the door mirror, possibly in an allroad some relating to the raised roof bars. However it is by no means intrusive and I think mainly noticeable because the interior of the car is very quiet - certainly better than my C6 (and that was by no measure "noisy" inside). Moving along at 'standard' UK motorway speeds of 70 MPH + some variance for staying with the flow (say+10 to 12 MPH) and it is very quiet and the pillar noise is not intrusive - i can listen to the radio or a phone conversation with ease. I have had some brief blasts to higher speeds but not for long enough to be thinking about the wind noise

Well, I have a brand new C7, built in September. The noise is not terrible, but it's not as quiet as I hoped for also. I have a very sensitive hearing and from around 50 mph i start to hear some 'air flow roar', seems to be coming from the mirror area. As the speed increases it gets louder. It felt less noticable in my Passat CC, but also maybe because of more engine/tire noise.

My question is: What do you hear most at let's say 50-70 mph (with the radio off)? Is it the tire noise, the engine or the 'air/wind'?

Ps. Im often covering up to 1200 km through German highways at speeds of 100 mph +, so accustic comfort is very important for me
