My A6 2.8 V6 Avant 1999 V plate has been run for 10 minutes with no oil (no, don't ask) and obviously now the engine is no longer working.

Does anyone know a reputable supplier of recon engines in the midlands and how much would one be? Also how much would I expect to pay to have it fitted? Or is it a job I can do myself?

(I'm presuming the engine is toast, the car is waiting recovery so I havn't seen it yet)

    Cheers in advance

Put a gallon of diesel in the engine leave for 24hrs and then try to turn over using big socket on crank. If it moves turn it over on the starter but don't let it start. If this works, fill with oil and pray. Seen this work a few times despite people saying it won't.

Thats quite a good idea. Although the results would depend on what damage may have been done to the engine.
