    Hi all.

I've got a vibration at about 1100 rpm. I run a scan and it showed nothing, so run the engine misfire section and came up with no 2 cylinder

Can someone tell me the correct firing order for my 3.2 FSI AUK engine and how the cylinders are numbered. I think that no 1 is O/S front but which way from there.

I've just looked at the WSM and have got 2 different orders for the same engine.

    Thanks all.

    Dave

    Hi Dave,

Got something for you heading over on email.

Firing order I found was 1-4-3-6-2-5

I'd firstly rule out HT side, swap coil pack, then plug over to see if it stays on 2 or follows. Harder to test for a wiring issue.

What is cold idle like, could this be carbon build up....

    Hi Andy.
Swapping plug or coil pack makes no difference and the plugs look in good. But have now noticed that will not rev above 4 grand and flutters there, ( try it up the road in a bit to see if its the same under load). All done on petrol. All flaps seam to be working. I would have thought that they would be tight if there was a prob. Misfire only at tickover through all temp.
Have also noticed on the VCDS that the voltage on the O/S bank is lower than the N/S bank and no 2 is about 100v down on that side on tick over.

I would think if it was a chain issue all the cylinders would be affected.

    Dave

All help and suggestions recived with thanks

    Hi,

Lower voltage could be relevant here. Any idea how this is driven? In old days you'd have a disty and coil. Is it possible to maybe swap wiring from left and right hand banks and see if problem follows wiring loom (that is swap wiring looms over from source, not just move wires between coil packs as that would end badly....)

Maybe worth checking connections, possible that it's coming loose or has some kind of corrosion.

New one seems pricey, this is on ebay:

From pic it's unclear if the parts are seperate or one complete unit.

Another thought. The LPG ECU taps into many wires from the petrol ECU. Could be that something isn't making good contact or come off. Should be in Plenium chamber, worth a quick look. Any connections should be soldered and kept dry. Seen such connections go wrong over time if conduit its wrapped in has the split facing upwards, not allowing any moisture to drain away.

Dave, if yours is LPG converted in your auto-sig on here, natch Andy knows as he's in the same boat.

Are your plugs iridium, was there any oil on them? Just trying to discount rocker cover gasket probs

    What about your LPG injectors?

    Hi Mark
Yes LPG but if I am sorting probs I always run petrol. But no oil on them.
Just checked ecu and took it out to check lpg connectons then re connected it. Went for a blast up road to see if rev more than 4 grand and it did. So guess that's to do with auto box. Got back and all ok now. So which was it. Maybe carbon, never go over 3.5 rpm normally. Might have blown cobwebs away.
    Or ecu reset..
Will see how we go in the next day or two.
    Thanks for input.
    Dave
