OK guys a bit of help please getting the following fault:

    VCDS-Lite Version: Release 1.2
    Monday, 29 July 2013, 19:19:17.
    Control Module Part Number: 1C0 909 605 C
    Component and/or Version: 0E AIRBAG VW61 04 0003
    Software Coding: 12357
    Work Shop Code: WSC 05311
    VCID: 243B6F93A7C3
    1 Fault Found:
    00588 - Airbag Igniter; Driver Side (N95)
    32-10 - Resistance too High - Intermittent

Have cleared the fault a couple of times but it comes back normally after 2nd restart. Car is 03 130 TDI Sport AVF engine.

Now i have never had to do any work on airbags so this is completley new to me.

Can some one please explain what this fault may mean and if it is an easy fix or not and any precautions required?

    Thanks in advance

    Iain

This is the rosstech explanation - 00588 - Ross-Tech Wiki

Personally I would leave all airbag work to the professionals!

You probably need to change the clock spring/ slip ring. Airbags are generally ok to work on as long as you disconnect battery and earth yourself while you work on the wiring.

Thanks for the quick replies guys, I assume the slip ring sits under the steering wheel?
