    Hi All,

My 1.6 tdi se was in for its first 10,000 mile service last week. I asked them to check out the fuel consumption as I'm currently getting around 43mpg from fill to fill.(I am a Driving Instructor and this figure is no better than my previous 1.6 tdi match). On a run its much better, between 60 and 70 mpg.

The Dealer came back, saying that there is a bulletin on my car requiring new camshaft sensors to be fitted. They are on back order apparently.

Could dodgy sensors affect consumption, and how many cars are affected?

hi, i know my 1.6 tdi is a 2012, but my mpg has never increased with age etc, no where near i was expecting.
it been back a few time to vw but they just give the usual bs.
starting to look around for my next car, from what i see the new petrol engines may be the way to go....vw or not

to note, my mate is a instructor and he went for the seat mii- never drops below 50mpg

Can you ask them detailed information about that bulletin? maybe a code for that bulletin. I will ask my dealer also.

I had to get a crankshaft sensor replaced on my 1.6 TDI SE about 4 weeks ago. The car has only done about 5,000 miles. The engine management light started flashing and the car went into limp mode. My fuel consumption has been fine averaging 50MPG on short journeys and 60+MPG on longer journeys. The car has been brilliant apart from this faulty sensor.
