Hi first post so be gentle!

Have an 2001 (y) Audi A4 1.9tdi 90,000 miles. I realise im gonna get some stick but the cambelt still hasnt been changed!!!

Audi are wanting to charge £540 which includes the water pump change.

There is a garage in Cambridge (Audi-Specialists) that are quoting 280 +VAT for cambelt and pump!?

Has anyone got any experience of these guys or any other independents in Essex or cambridge or should you stick with Audi garages? I live in North Essex.

    Cheers!

Not got any experience of them... but the price seems about right, if not a little high..... Some main dealers are offering cambelt changes for £250 inc vat on ebay believe it or not.

Just make sure your getting the full belt kit (inc tensioner) and as you've already said, its a good idea to get the water pump changed.

It says including roller whatever that is? The question is whether to use the independent? I always worry that they charge you but dont actually do the work! I wouldnt know!! I guess the Audi dealer could do the same!

Audi is asking too much imo, check ebay as bora(ing)nick suggests. I would trust the indy if they are specialists. Perhaps show them the Audi Ebay offers to knock the price down. OR, if you check at a SKODA or SEAT dealer, they might be even cheaper. All engines are VAG in the end.

Id like to know if anyone has used the "audi-specialists.co.uk" in cambridge?

Hi! I`v had dealing with audi-specialists in burwell, and they seemed pretty good.
I may be wrong, but if you av it done at audi-specialists you may be able to class it as FASH? as they`re meant to be specialists?
