From the A4 forum but probably affects us more as the keyless ignition is standard.

Might be sorely tempted to put some motion-sensor floodlights on the drive having read this. Especially as the council here now swith the street lighting off at midnight.

*edit* in fact just ordered one http://www.amazon.co.uk/GuardCam-LED...=pd_cp_light_1 DIY job for next weekend.

floodlights will just make it easier for them to see what they are at. all you can really do is fit a pedal lock or steering lock to slow them down and a bollard behind the car to stop them driving off or chain the car to the ground. even if a floodlight did wake you up, what are you going to do, take on 4 blokes who will go down if they get caught ??

If it stops them stealing your pride and joy I wouldn't mind! Any deterrent to stop them targeting your car.

If they admit there is a problem it puts them in a tricky spot so I think this will be what their lawyers tell them to say.

I am sure behid the scenes they will be working on a fix.

the problem is, they (audi) are up against pro's. people that steal top end cars for a very good living. they have access to lots of money and have very clever people working for them. they steal a car by getting the keys then use that to work out how to get passed all the security and get away with it in minimal time. whatever the manufacturers come up with will be beaten. all it does it get rid of the opportunists or makes them steal cars at gunpoint, forcing the driver out and getting the car and key.
and what problem do audi have to admit to ? the same one as every other manufacturer has, except not everything is as desirable. not many pros' nicking kia ceed's.
