Sorry it didn't work out for you.
Like me, you must be annoyed that some of the newer cars appear to be getting better mpg than you and I did as "early adopters" of the Golf.

Yes, many of the VW dealers treat customers as though they were dog turds on their shoes, and VW UK are not much better if one raises a concern. However, it is nice to hear from others on the forum that there are some good dealers out there.
Enjoy your new car. I don't want to end on a negative, but you must be pleased that you will be inside that car and looking out, rather than outside it and looking at it!!

Well, how did you think that I came to that conclusion? Yes, quite simple really - from first hand experience and not from what I have read about.

It does seem there have been some changes recently judging by some recent posts, too late for me ( & you !) though.
The fact that we are Motability customers may well have influenced the attitude of the dealer (& VAG) although they will of course deny that.

TBH I'm that sick of modern motoring in general & VAG in particular that I let my wife pick the current car (it does look slightly "better" in the dark metallic flake colour she chose to me) although my lovely wife (along with almost all other women) absolutely loves it .

Bought a new Nissan X-Trail T-Spec back in 2004 and I was expecting legendary Japanese reliability, but turbo expired in under 5000 miles and apparently it was rare to find a X-Trail owner that didn't experience a similar problem at low mileage (normally the intercooler went too). Probably not helped by being a Renault sourced engine which I didn't appreciate when I first bought the car and didn't know that Nissan had an alliance with Renault. As well as a turbo I needed a new ECU but luckily my car was under warranty otherwise it would have cost me a fortune to repair. So Nissan aren't a manufacture I would ever go back to....they may or my not be better now but once bitten.

how many major car brands are still making cars by themselves? Nissan/Renault, ford/Mazda, Citroen/puq, mini engines the list goes on. you just need to chose your cars a bit more carefully than you used to.

Sorry, I clearly didn't phrase my question correctly. I understand how and why someone can form a poor opinion of a company/organisation, I just don't understand why they would continue to give money to that company/organisation by purchasing goods or services from them.
