I don't feel it is a responsible thing to do massively increasing your cars emissions levels and technically speaking it is illegal. A remap fine, I do them, but leave the emissions devices on.

I recently had my dpf removed and a re-map, and i am delighted with the results. As far as i am concerned any minor increase in emissions is totally offset by the increased mpg.

Also i am not prepared to purchase new (massively overpriced) dpf every 3-4 years, for what is basically failed technology.
As an added bonus the reduction of backpressure/heat will prolong the life of the turbo.

    Mike.

If you Google the subject "diesel particulates" you will find much information on the known and proven health issues caused by particulate matter from diesel engines. The effect of you taking yours off is minuscule, so infinitesimally small you could not measure it. The trouble is taking them of is extremely popular, I would say roughly half of all DPF equipped cars we see have had it removed, so in these numbers (which will only increase) the effects are huge and soon the European government will pick up on this and there will be an almighty, ill thought, out over the top, disproportionate, knee jerk reaction which will be bad for everyone but I could bark on about this until I drop dead from PM10 induced lung cancer as the utterly selfish "me me me" minded people who do this and offer the service (argue with me about this and tell me who else you are doing it for) only care about their personal bank balance and don't give a **** about other peoples health including that of their own children. UTTERLY IRRESPONSIBLE!
