Was driving back from work, my usual hour commute, in the scorching heat this evening in the Golf, purring away without a hitch and drove past a MG ZR on the A12 hard shoulder, bonnet up, steam wafting out from the engine bay.

I have to say, as bad as it sounds, but smug factor was all the way to 11 after that!


Possibly a sombre (but quite amusing) thread, but what car have you seen stricken at the side of the road recently?

the other day i saw a rather sad audi, an old 80 estate, bonnet up with a bloke looking all dispondent whilst waiting for recovery.
oh wait, it was me
no, don't see many broken down cars around here. when something falls off the owner usually just carries on driving. steam coming out the bonnet, no worries, it'll get us home.

Saw a '61 plate Golf being towed out of an Avis Rental Office this morning by the RAC opposite the hotel I'm currently in - what is it they say ... Never be gentle with a rental?

Unfortunately a white A6 C7 Avant pulled up on a roundabout on the A59 at Clitheroe the other day.

And today a Morris Minor also on A59 at Clitheroe.

The second one was less of a surprise.

I saw a BMW on the back on a recovery truck yesterday, which in all honesty made me smile a teeny bit

Last month I saw an 2011 registered Aston Martin DB9 at the side of the A1 with steam pouring out, and a very unhappy-looking chap stood next to it

Policeman stood on the verge of the M66 next to his broken down squad car. Don't think I've seen that before.
