Hi everyone. Newbie here. I'm desperately seeking advice regarding the LOW OIL PRESSURE Warning.

The warning came up yesterday after picking the car up from our friends house following a night out. As soon as I started to accelerate the warning came up so I gingerly drove it the half mile home.

After trawling through the internet for suggestions on the possible problem, I decided that as it was close to the next service point, I would check the oil pick-up pipe for blockage and fit a new oil filter and refill with the recommended premium oil. There was no sludging in the sump or any deposits blocking the pick-up pipe.

Oil was even coming through the mesh onto a rag while I was wiping it over. After just finishing this, the problem remains. I have disconnected and reconnected the pressure sensor on the oil filter body and this also has made no difference.

Question: Should the oil pressure sensor connection wobble around a bit as it feels like it doesn't seem to locate centrally in the connector? Desperate for help as I use this for my Taxiing job and being off the road means no earnings...

Do a search for Oil pump, or hex shaft. As Turpal has said, these 2.0 140 engines can be prone to oil pump failure which would result in the oil pressure low message. I highly recommend not even trying to turn it over, let alone driving it. Get it recovered to your mechanic of choice & pray that driving that half mile hasn't done too much damage, as your oil won't have been getting through to where it would normally be pumped through to & you won't have had lubrication in some vital engine parts.

It could be something else, but until you get it checked out, it's not worth the risk.

Good luck, I hope it's not too serious.

I have an RAC Code Reader that has thrown up 2 glow plug faults but they have been like that for some time. No oil pressure faults though which made me think it might be the sensor. Have heard of a Recall Campaign 13D8. Is it worth me going down that route?
