I have contacted A6_Chris a while back regarding VCDS cable. I got one this week and today had some time to play with it. I enabled mirror dip, battery meter, lap timer, turbo boost and oil temp. I had a go at enabling bluetooth. All works, connects phone, makes phone calls, but the other side can not hear me. Is this some sort of microphone issue (there is one already by the overhead light)?

    Thanks for your time.

Ahh this brings back alot of memories from the forum in the olden days!

From here - Enabling bluetooth in MMI 3G - A5_OC

Did you enable all this? When you press the Speech button on your steering wheel and say HELP, does the woman understand?

Will add this to the VCDS thread

    in VDCS
    Module 5F
    Adapation - 10
    Channel 6 - "Read"
    New value = 1
    "Test"
    "Save"
    "Done, Go Back"
    leave VDCS completely

    go into the Hidden Menu
    diagnose>settings>Tel settings misc
change the setting to [no WLAN/no NAD/BT/HFP] 4/16
    restart MMI

    back in VDCS
    Module 5F
    Adapation - 10
    Channel 17 - "Read"
    New value = 1
    "Test"
    "Save"
    "Done, Go Back"

I have done this. There are 6 choices for microphone. It says one reserved, one unknown and the rest connected ? Which one is it supposed to be connected ?

See my edit about the Speech button on your steering wheel.

Edit - you need to fit the mic as you have no nav fitted - https://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/s...532#post684532

Did you follow the instructions to a tee I posted above also in the thread I linked in?

General browsing on the subject means if your speech button doesn't work then you have no mic fitted. Des the Bluetooth menu appear when you press TEL?

Bluetooth works fine, I can make phone calls, get contacts on the mmi screen, i can hear the other side, but other side cannot hear me.

So why do i have an overhead microphone, just where the interior light is. I looks aftermarket to me, black in colour.

Any ideas how to retrofit microphone ?

That mic is for GALA for your radio.

According to post #7 of this thread you need at least 2 mics for BT - How to activate bluetooth phone prep in MMI 3g | Audi Forum

    I'll do a further search.

This here - http://www.incarhandsfree.co.uk/imag...t_v1-03_en.pdf shows you how to wire the additional mic in.

Page 5 of the document onwards, ignore the rest. You'll be removing the unit in your glovebox with the SD cards.

Looking now to see if there's any bt mic and wire kits.
