    What year is your A6?

Going by you mentioning Radio Plus I assume 3G Low? OEM is very expensive for 2G and I would hate to guess how much for 3G.

Not a facelift A6 but X-Link unit with camera Link:- Rear Cameras / Parking sensors

For MMI 3G DPN is or has fitted this Link:- Video Interface for Audi MMI 3G. Video Interface for Volkswagen RNS 850

I can't recall what DPN is using it for, I vaguely remember him talking of rearview camera with a wireless connection to that but not sure, perhaps try a PM to DPN?

    Hi

I have installed Video Interface for Audi MMI 3G. Video Interface for Volkswagen RNS 850, which I have working fine with other AV sources (iPhone). This goes between the MMI unit and the screen ,all connections are behind the glovebox .

The camera install is a bit delayed, I bought WWF WIRELESS Car Reverse Rear View Camera for Audi A4/A6L/Q7 #274 | eBay but the first one was damaged in transit and I'm waiting on the replacement the week. There is a wireless transmitter/receiver which I am going to put in the boot door and the receiver in the side of the boot. The wiring will be off the reverse light so only active during reverse. The wireless modules look good which I tested separately do once the camera arrives it should be easy enough to install.

I had to run my switch wire via a relay. It just wouldn't work directly. But mine is 2G so if its the same for 3G

Interesting, I can get the AV unit to activate with the reverse light and a an iphone as the AV source but the camera flickered once and would not work. I assumed it was broken so I'm getting a replacement.

Lukenkarl were you trying to run a monitor from the reverse or just the camera? The AV unit does provide a two wire power for the reverse camera but I don't want to wire it back from the front of the car. Did you run a +12v back from the fuse box to a relay and use the reverse wire to turn the relay on? I know that the Audi diagnostics run a high frequency pulse through the lighting to check for bulb out maybe that causes a problem. Hmmmm further investigation required.

Just the camera, I used a spare fuse holder in the fuse board in the boot (AVANT) to power the camera and the relay, then use the reverse light wire to pull in the relay. This saves running the power wire from front, but you still have to run the AV.

Done it Chris, but not the camera that billy_m_1 wants. 170° Car Rearview camera Reversing camera for 2009--2011 Audi A6L/A4/Q7/S5 GSC10 | eBay

Mine is 2009 avant, so had to remove the tailgate panels, went over the roof lining by removing the lights to connect to 7" Inch TFT LCD Color Screen Car monitor/rearview mirror f. rear view camera DVD | eBay.
From start to finish took four hours.
The light in the camera did not work - found that the polarity was wrong - swapped them over, now OK.

    Very happy with the result.

Triger for the relay was from the revers light wire.
Power was taken from the rear power socket by soldering a wire to the + terminal on the back.

cheers Roy, the reason I wanted the full fitting was to keep it looking OEM and was unsure if the number plate would look half illuminated, I am fitting this to a 3g low system, not to worried about wiring to front of car, using the xcarlink unit, I may remove the 6 disk player and fit a dvd player aswell
