reverse camera ..... thoughts

Hi guys, I'm thinking of fitting a reverse camera to my 2009 facelift model. I've been looking at the Xcarlink unit, has anyone had any experience of these units??. Im also looking for the part number of the Audi number plate light unit with the camera built in and the boot opening handle, as I prefer the original look rather than the aftermarket single light one, any help appreciated. I've already fitted reverse sensors (beep beep sound ) and they work great, they came with the little distance bar which looks naff on a Audi dash , but I've brought it up at the back window (small gap between the rear screen and the back shelf ) so now I can see it in the reverse mirror , and nobody else notice's it ! cheers Billy

OEM camera is big ££££ to fit but he's doing it aftermarket.

cheers Chris, looked at that thread, not to sure about the camera though, I was wanting to use the one that's integrated into the boot release unit with the reverse lights( all one unit) so i'm trying to find the part number

I fitted one of these to my A6 a few years ago. Works ok but occasionally when you turn off the ignition the MMI screen goes all white, so I have to turn on again and then off. I fitted their camera into the RH slot where the number plate light went and had to dremel the fitting out to accommodate this. wired the new LED light, incorporated into the camera, to the existing wiring and the rest as per instructions supplied. Good quality picture and very useful when you need the extra few inches after the reversing sensors are fully activated (solid beep). Fitted the control unit next to MMI screen at the back of the glovebox.

Cheers Lukenkarl, im thinking of going with the Xcarlink unit, but was trying to find out the price of the integrated camera in the boot handle aswell ( as an option ) i'm curious about the white screen thing ? , did you ever figure it out ? , or just live with it

cheers Chris, that's what I was looking for, now to price it lol, was also looking at this unit Rear view camera for Audi A6, A8, Allroad it looks the same as the OEM part ??

Lived with it for two or three years but it does niggle me so I will sort it soon...maybe

Hi guys, i'm new here, but had Audi for a while now and also would like to fit reversing camera to my A6. I had one like in the link above in my 03 Passat and it was great, never failed. Just want to now which module do I need to add video to MMI system. I think I have MMI Radio Plus.
