I want to retrofit an MDI interface in the glove box of my 2010 B6 Passat, below is a link to the unit on a well known auction site. The problem is that I think it fits into the vehicle manual "drawer" in the glove box but I don't think the unit for sale will fit, is there another facia plate or glove box adapter I need to buy as well please. VW SEAT SKODA MEDIA-IN MDI USB IPOD RNS 510 ect COMPLETE KIT NEW | eBay. Any help is appreciated.

There are a number of ways to get around it.

I have just sold mine on ebay after selling the Estate, and I removed the unit from the DIN fascia as that wouldn't fit anywhere as you say. I don't think it easily installs into the centre console either.

I routed my cables from the head unit to under the driver seat, and had the unit there with my ipod, nicely hidden away with some black felt to camouflage it against the black carpet. It was a very tidy installation IMO. Otherwise you could remove the glovebox and just pop it in there, either way it is very accessible.

Apart from locating the unit somewhere, everything else is plug and play. I didn't need any coding in my 58 estate.

Quick thought - if you were going to only use one media source (i.e. ipod only or USB only) you could install the box behind the glovebox or stereo, then route an extension cable anywhere in the car. You just wouldn't have quick access to the unit if you wanted to play music from a different source, that's all.
