    Hi all.

going to make the leap from audi to CC in the coming months. The CC doesn't seem to have as many problems(use that term loosely) as the audi in this price range! So anyway, got about 9k in total to spend on a used cc, what do I need to look out for or to avoid.

Hi gaffer, don't really have much advice re what to look out for as I too have just made the leap to CC from Lexus 220d. I was thinking of an Audi A4 or A6, I had an A6 previous to the Lexus. For what it's worth I'll give my input...

I have a 2009 09 Passat CC 140, extras fitted were Bluetooth/ DAB Radio/ Parking sensors and Interlagos 18" in Iron Grey metallic. I would suggest parking sensors are a must as it make parking trouble free. If you opt for Bluetooth be aware that it will not connect to all phones, there is a list on the VW website. I have a Galaxy note 2 and after much deliberation I finally managed to connect although I cannot upload my phone book to the vehicle.

Only had the car for 7 weeks and so far trouble free and very pleased, I think I made the correct choice. Very nice to drive, steering positive and noise relatively well subdued. I had reservation of the 18" wheels on low profile tyres (235/40/18) though I would say the ride is overall well dampened. Very roomy in the front, rear space is ample. I am 6' and after adjusting front seat I can still comfortably sit in the rear. Good sized boot with full size spare. As for economy again I'm delighted for the size of car. I've covered just under 2000 miles mainly A roads and dual carriage way and averaging 54.5 after 3 fill ups, on board computer over estimated by between 1.8 & 2.7 mpg.

Some potential problem I have found on this forum are windows sticking to seals in cold winter mornings/ water in front or rear footwells (can be caused by either faulty or misaligned seals or leaves etc./ blocking drain hole in the bulkhead). If you read through the forums there are lots of good advice.

You may need to go slightly higher than 9k to get a reasonable millage example. I paid 10.5k for 09 plate with 41k on the clock from JCT600 with 1 years VW warranty etc.

Good luck with your purchase, will look out to see how you get on.

Hi Gaffer. You can see my CC's spec. in my signature. Its an 09/59 approaching 44k & owned from new. No real issues so far. 1 fog light (water ingress) and failed alarm siren fixed under warranty. I love it. Best car I've ever owned, quiet, comfortable, economical with a lifetime brim to brim average a tad over 49 mpg driving briskly with very few short or high urban content journeys and observing speed limits (with some leeway on the open road ).

Service costs have been reasonable on variable schedule. So far two services, two aircon. services and one brake fluid change have totaled £615. Its going in for new discs & pads all round next week at a fixed cost of £508. Cambelt etc. change may be soon; not sure if its the historical four years on this engine or the later five, will ask next week.

    Two tyre related cautions:-
    1. Tyre life on the original fit Contis is not good and quality brand replacements are not cheap but I would not go for anything else.
    2. The Contis are rubbish in winter conditions. After the experiences of early 2010 I invested in a set of winter tyres and wheels to suit. A revelation! After some research I bought Nokian winter tyres because they rate quite highly and have a reputation for being particularly good on slush. Nokian are a second tier quality brand.

I was so pleased with my Nokian winter tyres I replaced the Contis with Nokian summer tyres and have been very pleased. These tyres were voted best on a Golf GTI by the German VW Drivers magazine. They are very satisfactory, quieter than the Contis and wearing more slowly. The only issue I have had with with Nokians is sourcing. They have all came from abroad, The winters from pneusonline and the summers from mytyres: the situation may have improved.

I'd endorse the advice about parking sensors. I paid the little bit extra for Park Assist. Its well worth it if you can find it.

Hope that helps and good luck!

    Thanks for you're reply.

you have summed up what I have already researched really. I too have a A6 at the moment at 151000 miles and has served me well and still going strong I might add. It's time for a change now and the level of spec you get on the CC or can would cost a mint for another A6! I have to say high mileage is not really a concern for me as long as its not over 70k and has the full VAG history. The wet foot wells and bulkheads are a common prob with most VAG cars!!

I will keep searching until the right diesel comes as I'm not in a massive hurry, so more input will be helpful.
